Aamir Khan is known for his genius movies and the social messages they carry. Hits like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ have a left huge impact on society and touched the lives of thousands. Last year, Aamir announced his next project 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and now we know that it is going to be focused on Down syndrome.

Aamir made his debut as a director with Taare Zameen Par which showed the struggles of Ishaan Awasthi a dyslexic kid, played by Darsheel Safary. The movie was appreciated by people from different walks of life and got recognition and praise not just in India but all over the world. In this new addition to the franchise, Sitaar Zameen Par is going to highlight the struggles of Down Syndrome and how it is stigmatised in society.

Genelia Deshmukh is also starring in the movie which is said to be released on Christmas this year. In his recent interview with News18, Aamir talked about his new project and said, “With Sitaare Zameen Par, we are moving 10 steps ahead with the same theme. Taare Zameen Par was an emotional film. This film will make you laugh. That film made you cry, this one will entertain you. The theme is the same. That’s why we kept this name very thoughtfully. We all have flaws, we all have weaknesses, but we all also have something special, so we are taking forward this theme”. He also said that in this film he won't be helping anyone, instead, nine boys with their own issues will help him.

Taare Zameen Par came out in 2007 and became a superhit in the country. It did not just entertain people it also brought change at that time. Many educational institutes in the nation started special classrooms for children with learning disabilities. Chandigarh's Education Administration also came forward and started a course for teachers to understand and teach children with special needs better. The whole nation became more aware and initiatives were taken.

According to a study by the Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 1 in 68 children in India is born with autism. Currently, India has a population of around 18 million people diagnosed with autism. Let's hope Sitaare Zameen Par also impacts Indian Society and ignites a new wave of change as Taare Zameen Par did and forces society to create better opportunities for unrepresented people in this country.
