Guwahati: Recently several publications carried reports of an allegedly unfortunate incident, where popular playback singer Shaan was stoned for singing a Bengali song. The event reportedly took place when the singer was performing in a concert at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati on Monday.

According to the reports, a few members in the audience threw stones were at Shaan when he started singing the Bengali number as he urged the crowd to calm down, saying, “Please respect the performer.”

The video of the incident had gone viral.

Later, the singer took to Twitter to address the incident that sparked a debated on regionalism writing, ‘’Just for the records ...loved my Assam Tour!! Saw the most fascinating sights...made new friends..had huge turnouts at every concert.. Over one unfortunate incident it would be VeryWrong to Tarnish this Beautifull State!!! Whatever happened was in the heat of the moment.’’

Shaan walked off the stage after the incident but soon returned at the request of the organisers and also told the audience that he was performing despite running a fever.

However now, the singer took to Twitter to say that the report is 'complete lies'. Turns out only one person in the crowd misbehaved during the performance by throwing a paper ticket on stage.
