Mumbai: The trailer of John Abraham’s Romeo Akbar Walter reminds us of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi and Ben Affleck’s Argo for having a similar spy with a mission storylines.

In RAW, John plays the role of a spy who undergoing intense training for the country’s intelligence agency, RAW. During the course of the movie, the actor will presumably be seen in three completely different avatars of Romeo, Akbar, and Walter, kind of similar to Alia Bhatt as Sehmat in Raazi.

During the trailer launch, John was asked about the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan post-Pulwama attack. "There has to be a war against terror, not against a country, religion, religions or between religions. I am very clear in my outlook. I (will) probably get picked on, but I am not going to sit on the fence and say 'this audience will like it, that won't," John told reporters.

"There has to be a war on terror. It has to be over and done with. That doesn't mean you have to fight with another country. That doesn't mean you have to stereotype people. But today the problem is that the world is getting "polarised", he added.

The 46-year-old actor had earlier said that he would sport eight different looks in the film as per the demand of the script. “I will play everything from an 85-year-old man to a 26-year-old, and this is the most challenging role of my life. I get good nervous energy when I am prepping for a difficult film and RAW is in that space.”

RAW is inspired by real incidents and is set in 1971 when India and Pakistan were on the verge of a war. We see Jackie Shroff as John’s reporting head and in various shots of the video, Jackie is seen asking for a sacrifice from John in order to serve his nation selflessly. In the video, we see John crossing the border and working in tandem with the RAW as an undercover agent.

RAW also stars Mouni Roy and this will mark as her second outing after starring in Gold with Akshay Kumar. The espionage thriller, directed by Robbie Grewal, also stars Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and Sikander Kher among others. It's scheduled to be released on April 5.
