The Padmaavat actor shared how the couple started casually dating courtesy her bad breakup with Ranbir Kapoor
Mumbai: Newlywed actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh may just become the role models for millennial love and relationships. Padukone recently revealed in an interview that the couple started off casually dating with an open relationship set up.
Yep, the Padmaavat star said that she had been in one serious relationship after another since she was 13 years old and did not want to commit. "When this relationship, which I was in ended in 2012, I was like I'm done. I wanted to try out this concept of casual dating. I just did not want to be answerable to anyone. When Ranveer and I met in 2012, I told him, 'I realise there's a connection between us. I really like you but I want to keep it open. I don't want to commit. If I get attracted to different people I'm going to do my thing," she said.
While it is speculated that the couple started dating after starring together in Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, it was Deepika's much-publicised breakup with Ranbir Kapoor that made headlines, following which Padukone also later revealed her battle with depression.
However, the couple finally had a happily-ever-after as she revealed that six months into dating Ranveer, she was "pretty much emotionally invested". She said, "After that it was when do we get married? I was never unsure about him."
After being in a steady relationship for six years, Ranveer and Deepika became husband and wife over two days - November 14 and 15 - at the breathtaking Villa del Balbianello at Lake Como in Italy.
