Thiruvananthapuram: The film Virus directed by Ashiq Abu, is based on the deadly Nipah Virus outbreak in Kerala last year. The virus had taken away 18 lives from Kozhikode in Kerala. 

The latest poster released says that the film is completely about fear, fight and survival. The character poster of Revathy's role in the movie has been released and it is going viral on social media. The actress will be enacting the role of Kerala health minister KK Shailaja in the movie.

Meanwhile, actor Tovino Thomas is playing Kozhikode district collector UV Jose. The role of Lini, the nurse who lost her life while treating Nipah patients, is played by Rima Kallingal. 

The film Virus is currently in the post-production stage and will hit the screens worldwide on July 7. The three-minute-long trailer throws light on the country's medical nightmare. It portrays emotions like kindness, guilt, helplessness, paranoia, etc. 

Virus, the Malayalam thriller movie, which recounts the horror stories of last year's Nipah Virus outbreak in Kerala, is already a hit with the trailer grabbing over three million views on YouTube. The trailer got positive response from the audience and celebrities like actor R Madhavan and cricketer Irfan Pathan. 

The main characters of Virus are Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Revathy, Rima Kallingal, Parvathy, Indrajith Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Soubin Shahir, Poornima Indrajith, Sreenath Bhasi, Remya Nambeesan, Joju George, Dileesh Pothan, Senthil Krishna, Rahman, Indrans and Madonna Sebastian.
