Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji on Thursday said he will make a sequel to his 2011 blockbuster 'Baishe Srabon', shooting for which will commence soon.

The second installation -- 'Dwitiyo Purush' -- will take off from where the original concluded, Mukherji said, announcing the film on the 78th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

He, however, said the sequel will not be inspired from any of Tagore's works.

"'Dwitiyo Purush' will see actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay reprise the role of detective Abhijit Pakrashi," the National Award-winning director told PTI.

The film will also introduce a few new characters.

"Like 'Baishe Srabon', it will also be a psychological thriller and is scheduled to go on floors soon. I wish to stick to the same genre through which both the masses and select audiences will connect," Mukherji said.

The sequel is slated for release on January 23, 2020.
