Mumbai: Oshiwara police have registered an FIR against Alok Nath under section 376 of IPC on the basis of a complaint filed by writer Vinta Nanda. The actor was accused by Nanda of drugging and raping her in a Facebook post.

The filmmaker, who is also the best friend of his wife, had first made the allegations on October 8 at the height of the #MeToo movement. She had detailed that Nath had allegedly spiked her drink and taken her to a secluded location to rape her.

Following her allegations, actors Sandhya Mridul and Himani Shivpuri also accused the actor of behaving lewdly. Shivpuri told MyNation that Alok Nath had attempted to rape her during their days together in the National School of Drama.

Alok Nath and his wife, Ashu, had also filed a defamation case against Nanda seeking Rs 1 as compensation. Their lawyer, Ashok Saraogi, also tried to slut-shame Nanda by saying, "This person is unconscious, over-drunk and does not know when she reached her home and who took her there. She just realised that she has experienced pain, but she doesn’t say where the pain is. After drinking, you get a hangover, that too causes pain."
