Actor Lisa Ray took to Instagram on Monday to share the news of her newborn daughters – Sufi and Soleil. The actor, who shot to fame with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's music video Afreen Afreen, was diagnosed with blood cancer (myeloma) in 2009, which is incurable and subsequently put on a heavy dose of medication due to which she is unable to carry children herself.

Ray and her husband, Jason Dehni opted for the surrogacy route. However, India outlawed commercial surrogacy a week before they’d made the deals, forcing the couple to try the process in Mexico and then, Georgia. The attempt proved successful and so, the new parents decided to share their experience to remove the stigma associated with surrogacy.

Good wishes have come pouring for the Kasoor actor with fans congratulating her on the new additions to the family while others lauded her for not bending down in the face of cancer.

As Lisa puts it, "Stand back world: here comes Soufflé (Sufi plus Soleil equals the best dish in the universe)."
