Suriya is back with yet another release for the year with Kaappaan, directed by KV Anand. The film’s audio launch was held in Chennai on July 21 and was presided over by superstar Rajinikanth.

Malayalam actor Mohanlal, who is one of the actors in the movie, showered praises on KV Anand and Suriya.

Speaking at the promotional event, Lal reportedly said that he has known KV Anand for 25 years, since the Malayalam movie ‘Thenmavin Kombathu’. He said that with this film, Anand will prove he is the finest with the craft. Lal reportedly went on to say that when he heard the script, he was thrilled to work with Suriya and mentioned that he has an irresistible passion as an actor.

In the film, Lal will play the role of the Prime Minister of India and Suriya will play the role of a first rank special protection group (SPG) officer. The movie marks the first collaboration of Suriya and Lal. Other important roles in the movie are played by Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani, Chirag Jani, Poorna and Samuthirakani.

Suriya reportedly said that Kaappaan will be relevant to people of all age groups and that the story will be relevant in villages to foreign cities. He remarked that the film is very important to him and everyone who has worked in it.

Kaappaan, produced by Lyca Productions, is expected to hit the theatres on August 30. The official release date is yet to be announced.
