Aishwarya Rai had played a role inspired by J Jayalalithaa in Mani Ratnam's Malayalam political drama Iruvar along with superstar Mohanlal.

According to reports, the actress is now being considered to play the lead in the biopic of Tamil Nadu's former chief minister.

Just not Aishwarya, Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan, Tabu and few others are also in the race to act in the multilingual project.

The life story of one of the most charismatic female politicians of India will come alive through a film which will be produced by Vibri Media and directed by Vijay. The film will feature prominent faces from Bollywood and south industry.

Brinda Prasad Adusumilli, director of Vibri Media and chairperson, SIIMA, also confirmed the news.

“Madam Dr J Jayalalithaa was one of those rare few regional leaders who went on to become a force to reckon with in Indian politics. Her life is an inspiration for women folk around the world. This film will be a tribute to her achievements both in cinema and politics. We will launch the movie on her birthday, February 24. The first look of the film will be released on that very day,” Brinda said.

In an interview with Simi Garewal back in 1999, J Jayalalithaa had stated that Aishwarya would be the best actress to play her if ever a biopic is made.

The movie will be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Jayalalithaa passed away in Chennai on December 5, 2016, after a prolonged illness. She remains an inspiring person as she reached the pinnacle of her popularity in film and politics.
