New Delhi: The Lok Sabha election is over and its raining accusations. First West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, then it was the Congress president Rahul Gandhi who blamed the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the Election Commission (EC) for 'manipulation'.

Rahul tweeted, "From Electoral Bonds & EVMs to manipulating the election schedule, NaMo TV, “Modi’s Army” & now the drama in Kedarnath; the Election Commission’s capitulation before Mr. Modi & his gang is obvious to all Indians. The EC used to be feared & respected. Not anymore."

Before the Congress president blamed the poll body, it was the Trinamool Congress which did so. Derek O Brien in a letter to chief election commissioner Sunil Arora has called the poll body 'deaf and dumb' for allegedly not taking any action against media transmission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Kedarnath trip. Interestingly, there's hardly any legal provision to do so and even other opposition leaders temple run were also beamed on TV screen way past end of campaigning which didn't seem to trouble the TMC.

If the two weren't enough, now former finance minister P Chidambaram has joined the 'blame EC' bandwagon. He too took to Twitter to complain, "Our charge had been that the EC was sleeping on the job. Now, we can go further and say that the EC completely surrendered its independence and authority. Shame!" He too was referring to Modi's Kedarnath trip over the weekned which has been a personal affair for the prime minister.

The question that looms large is, has the opposition already accepted dfefeat even before the results are out?
