Polling began at 7am.

Here are details of the third phase of Lok Sabha election 2019.

A total of 117 constituencies in 14 states and two Union Territories will witness polling today (April 23). The star candidates voting today apart from PM Modi are BJP chief Amit Shah from Gandhinagar in Gujarat and AICC chief Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad in Kerala.

In 2014, the ruling BJP won 66 seats out of these 117 constituencies. Lok Sabha election will be held in seven phases. The last phase of polling will conclude on May 19. The results will be announced on May 23. 

In Karnataka, BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa and Shivamogga party candidate BY Raghavendra cast his vote.

In Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh, leaders Dharmendra Yadav and Akshay Yadav, senior party leader Azam Khan and the BJP's Jaya Prada are the key contenders. In 2014, BJP won seven of the 10 seats.

After the third phase, out of 542 Lok Sabha seats, 302 constituencies will have completed voting.

Madhya Pradesh governor and former Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel cast her vote, along with her family in Ahmedabad’s Shilaj. Other prominent leaders who cast their vote are Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant and his wife at Sakhali. Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani cast his vote in Rajkot along with wife Anjali Rupani.
