New Delhi: Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are the top two states where the Election Commission has seized a maximum amount of cash. 

According to the official data of Election Commission of India (ECI), total shares of both the states is almost 60% of the total cash seizure. The data compiled by Election commission says that from Andhra Pradesh total Rs 55 crore have been seized and from Tamil Nadu, more than 36 crore have been recovered by various agencies.

  4. West Bengal
  5. Punjab

Interestingly in the National capital, ECI data reveals that no money, gold or any drugs have been seized by any agency. Also, during the election season in Chandigarh, which has heavy consumption of liquor, not even a single bottle of liquor has been recovered from the city.

On the other side, Bihar, where liquor is banned, agencies have recovered liquor worth Rs 20 lakh.

Till 25th March, ECI has seized Rs 143.47 crore cash and total Rs 540 crore of seizures including freebies, gold, silver, liquor, narcotics substances etc. from across India. ECI data claimed that from Andhra Pradesh the highest amount of freebies worth Rs 6 crore have been recovered while from Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Rs 2.36 crore, Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1.46 crore has been recovered respectively.

The election commission has set up dedicated call centres so that the public can give information about wrongdoings during the election process. Everyday Election commission compiles data of seizures done by all agencies. 

All agencies including local police, Income Tax, customs etc have dedicated a wing to coordinate with ECI and responsible for giving all information about all complaints, transfers etc related to elections.
