In his recent tweet, Sachin Tendulkar appreciated the performers from Indian Idol season 11 acknowledging their soulful singing and inspiring life stories. What initially was a positively heartening post was the pivotal point of major discourse and controversies after singer Sona Mohapatra highlighted that the massively celebrated sportsman’s silence on Anu Malik being a part of the show’s jury reveals his utter ignorance of the current developments in India’s Me-Too movement.

Last year, Anu Malik was removed from the judging panel of the Indian Idol post the accusations of harassment made by Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit. Recently, Bollywood playback singer Neha Basin accused Malik of predatory behaviour. Regardless of these pressing complaints, Anu Malik was inducted again as part of the show’s present season.

The female singer also slammed Sony TV for condoning the defaulter’s misconduct. Her integral address of the issue calls for the mainstream media outlets and public figures to stay aware and empathetic to the gradually growing Me-Too movement, which aims at mitigating the work place harassment faced largely by women.
