Mumbai: Virat Kohli was on Thursday (October 24) rested for the three-match T20I home series against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma will lead the side in his absence. Kerala wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson and Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube were called up while Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not picked again.

The MSK Prasad-led selection committee met in Mumbai today to pick the Indian T20I and Test squads. The T20Is begin on November 3 while the two-Test rubber commences on November 14.

The selection meeting was attended by both Kohli and Rohit. This was the first team selection after the new office bearers of the BCCI were elected on Wednesday. Sourav Ganguly was elected unopposed as BCCI president.

After taking a break from T20Is, Kohli returns to lead the Test squad. Recently, India made a 3-0 clean sweep over South Africa to win the Freedom Series (Gandhi-Mandela Trophy). India are on top of the ICC World Test Championship with 240 points.

The same line-up, barring Shahbaz Nadeem, which played against South Africa, has been retained for Bangladesh Tests. Kohli and his men are unbeaten so far in the World Test Championship.
