Rather than focusing on short-term outreach programs or annual contributions, the NCS group sees social responsibility with the lens of culture and community.

The NCS Group is long known for its diversified presence across sugar manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics and related sectors. While synonymous with industrial growth and regional development, the Group has slowly built another legacy that is focused on social responsibility, cultural preservation and sustainable community wellbeing.

Rather than focusing on short-term outreach programs or annual contributions, the NCS group sees social responsibility with the lens of culture and community. As a result, their initiatives have evolved into something more enduring, the reaction of institutions around faith, healthcare and social infrastructure.

In the past three decades, the NCS Group has built a CSR model that integrates spiritual heritage, social infrastructure, livelihood, and public service into a sustainable framework, through its charitable initiatives.

NCS Charitable Trust

The NCS Charitable Trust was established by the Group to fulfil the vision laid out by its founder Sri Narasimha Murthy garu, who dedicated his life to the pursuit of philanthropy.

A devoted Ramabhakta, he also spearheaded several charitable initiatives, including the construction of the Vasavi Samstha at Srisailam and the installation of a magnificent 18-foot Ganesha statue in Kakinada, along with significant contributions to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

In the 1950s, the Maharaja of Vizianagaram conferred the title “Dharma” upon Sri Chalamayya, father of Sri Narayana Narasimha Murthy, in recognition of his remarkable philanthropic contributions and for organizing 108 Sri Rama Kalyanams, 108 Sri Rama Pattabhishekams, and the grand Mahasamrajya Pattabhishekam — a celebration that brought the entire town together for more than two weeks.

This legacy is carried ahead by his wife Narayanam Nagaratnam and his sons Narayanam Nageswara Rao (Chairman, NCS Charitable Trust), Narayanam Murali, and Narayanam Srinivas, who are trustees of the charity. All members of the family are deeply devoted to the charitable causes that are aligned with the founder’s vision and mission.

In recognition of the family's enduring service to society and the contributions of the charitable trust, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has named a prominent road in Vizianagaram town as NCS Road, and the Government of India has also released a commemorative postal stamp on the Ramanarayanam Temple.

Cultural Stewardship as Social Responsibility

One of the most notable contributions through the NCS Charitable Trust is the development of the Ramanarayanam Temple and Valmiki Research Center. An iconic spiritual and cultural landmark that is created not only as a place of worship but also as a centre for research, education, reflection, and community development.

The Group has further complemented this initiative by establishing a Veda Pathashala, a Goshala, and meditation centres, emphasizing the role of legacy value systems in our modern society. “My grandfather had a strong sense of purpose and affinity to our ancient culture and the Vedic lifestyle. All our family members have inherited this love and respect for our traditional ethos from them. We were clear that whatever we contribute needs to preserve our cultural continuity while creating spaces for intergenerational engagement,” says Narayanam Nageswara Rao, Managing Director, Promoter and Chief Architect of the NCS Group of Companies.

Additionally, NCS Charitable Trust has supported temple restoration initiatives and contributed to TTD-related developments, including the donation of 108 cows, construction of guest house 'Padmavathi Nilayam’ in Tirumala hills, construction support for temple infrastructure, initiatives that reflect long-term custodianship rather than symbolic giving. Padmavathy Nilayam offers affordable, clean, and comfortable lodging options for pilgrims with modern amenities.

Healthcare and Social Welfare Infrastructure

Beyond cultural initiatives, the trust’s CSR footprint extends into healthcare and elder care.

The establishment of a 120-bed free eye hospital has provided accessible treatment to underserved communities, addressing preventable vision impairment and improving quality of life for thousands of beneficiaries.

The trust has also supported the creation of an old age home, offering dignified care and support for senior citizens, and contributed to the development of public spaces such as the Dharma Charamayya Municipal Park, strengthening community wellbeing.

Institutional Approach to Philanthropy

What distinguishes the NCS charitable trust’s initiatives is their institutional nature. Rather than one-time contributions, these efforts are structured through an organized charitable framework designed for long-term sustainability.

The approach reflects three guiding principles:

  • Preservation of cultural and spiritual heritage
  • Creation of accessible healthcare and welfare infrastructure
  • Strengthening of community ecosystems across generations

By integrating faith, service, and infrastructure development, NCS’ CSR journey demonstrates how industrial enterprises can contribute to social capital alongside economic growth.

A Legacy Beyond Business

As the NCS Group continues its broader journey, its community initiatives stand as a parallel legacy, one defined not by production metrics, but by institutions built, lives supported, and cultural foundations strengthened.

In an era where CSR is often measured in annual reports, NCS’ model underscores a different narrative: social responsibility as stewardship, continuity, and long-term community investment.
