Milk price has surpassed the petrol price as it has been priced at Rs 140 per kg at Karachi and Sindh province of Pakistan, whereas petrol is available for Rs 113 per litre.

Karachi: The price of petrol is Rs 113 per litre and diesel is Rs 91, but the rate of one litre of milk has sky  rocketed to Rs 140 in Pakistan.

Common people in Pakistan found it difficult to buy milk even on the day of Muharram (on September 10) due to this exorbitant price. The price of milk was Rs 140 per litre not only in Karachi, but also in the Sindh province.

According to reports, milk is being sold between Rs 120 and Rs 140 in various parts of Pakistan. It is said that high demand for milk has led to the rise in price.

Milk is one of the essential items along with juices and cold water kept for sale in the shops during Muharram for people who return tired from religious processions. Most people prefer to drink milk after returning from the ritual.

Reports claimed that official price of milk set by the commissioner's office was Rs 94 per litre.

Meanwhile, Karachi commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani, who is the deciding authority of the price of the milk, has not responded about the same. It is said that he has not announced any measures to tackle the rising price of milk.
