Modi calls out countries funding terrorism in SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi without naming Pakistan has highlighted the issue of state-sponsored terrorism in the SCO summit in Bishkek, urging the leaders to organise a global conference on terrorism.

Bishkek: On Friday, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, countries sponsoring, aiding and funding terrorism must be held accountable as he called for a global conference to combat terrorism.

Modi met with President Jinping, President Vladimir Putin and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on the side-lines of the SCO summit to strengthen the bilateral relations.

“To combat the threat of terrorism, countries will have to come out of their narrow purview to unite against it”, PM Narendra Modi said in the presence of his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan.

Addressing the summit, PM Modi highlighted the spirit and ideals of SCO to fight against terrorism, and indirectly shamed countries like Pakistan for their support towards terror organisations.
