Tamil Nadu: Indian Gaur gives birth to female calf in Arignar Anna Zoological Park

Chennai: The Indian Gaur named Lalitha gave birth to a female calf on December 16 in Chennai's Arignar Anna Zoological Park which is also known as Vandalur Zoo. Vijayan, a male Indian Gaur sired the new-born calf. Presently, the zoo has 23 Gaurs of which 10 are male, and 13 are female. According to the recent press release, both mother and calf are being given special attention by zoo management. Good management practices and nutritious food supply has caused a continuous increase in the Indian Gaur population at Arignar Anna Zoological Park.
