Forest officials rescue elephant, calf successfully from slush pit in Sakleshpur

Hassan: The elephant and its calf which were stuck in a slush pit at a coffee estate at Kadagaravalli village in Sakleshpur, Karnataka, for more than 48 hours, were rescued on Tuesday with the help of earthmovers and tamed elephants. Mysuru zoo veterinarian Dr Nagaraj, ACFs Lingaraju, Mohan and Pruthvi were present at the spot. They said that the elephant's left forelimb is injured, and there is swelling. Tamed elephants Harsha and Vikram were brought from Dubare camp, in Kodagu district, for the rescue operation. A colossal excavator was brought again. The elephant was tied securely with belts and lifted up.
