Bengaluru: A horde of BJP members, including N RaviKumar, MLC and state general secretary met the chief electoral officer on March 15. The purpose of their meeting the officer was to bring to his notice the permission granted to AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s meeting on Monday, slated to be held at Birds Park, Nagawara, near Manyata Tech Park, Bengaluru.

The venue under question is a notified place by the forest department for an exclusive birds park. The BJP leaders alleged that the permission granted by the election officer isn’t right as he has disregarded the delicate nature of the park. Furthermore, the BJP members alleged that the crowd gathered there would be nothing less than a nuisance to the birds and disturb the natural habitat.

The members also expressed their apprehension that the birds would be scared and the ecological balance of the venue would be hampered.

The members prevailed upon the officer to look into the issue and urged him to cancel the permission, keeping in mind the sensitive nature of the park.

Permission has been granted for Rahul Gandhi’s meeting at Birds Park near Manyata Tech Park. That being the case, lakhs of birds will be affected, forcing them to leave their habitat. We have urged the election commissioner to cancel the permission granted.
