5 workers killed in Tiruvannamalai crane accident; victims’ families protest keeping bodies on road

Five workers were killed in a crane accident when they were involved in drilling a well at the Saraswati Vikas Matriculation School in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvannamalai. Seven people were working when an iron rod got detached from the crane and fell on them. Five workers died on the spot and one was severely injured. The injured person has been admitted to the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital. The family members of the victims have kept the bodies on the road and are demanding justice. They staged a protest and damaged the properties of the school. District superintendent of police (SP) CB Sarasawati visited the place and spoke to the families of the victims. Currently, the school principal and the crane operator are absconding.
