Palakkad: A woman lodged a complaint at the Cherpulassery police station in Kerala stating that she was raped at the CPM area committee office in Palakkad and has been impregnated too. The incident came to light when the local police found a newborn abandoned on the streets. After investigation, the police observed that the newborn’s mother was sexually assaulted, and thus had to throw away her child.

Later, the mother said to the police that she was sexually assaulted by a youth organisation activist at the CPM office in Cherpulasseri. She also revealed that the incident happened when she came to the CPM office as part of some work with respect to the college magazine. According to sources, the baby was found abandoned at Nagaripuram in Mannur on March 16. Both the mother and the baby have been shifted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the CPM has come forward saying that they are not aware of the complaint and that this is part of some conspiracy ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
