Why NGOs with political interests cannot receive foreign funds

The Supreme Court made it clear that NGOs used for channelling foreign funds by political parties cannot escape the rigour of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act when there is concrete material in this regard. The order was passed while hearing an appeal by an NGO, India Social Action Forum challenging the constitutional validity of Section 5 (1) and 5 (4) of the FCRA which relates to the procedure to notify an organisation of a political nature.
