The Vikas Dubey encounter is reminiscent of the gunning down of accused in the Hyderabad vet’s rape and murder case and has brought up opinion of public and politicians on how officials take the final call before gunning down dreaded criminals
Bengaluru: Time and again Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has reiterated that his state will be crime free and he’s not the one to take nonsense from anti-social elements. The killing of gangster Vikas Dubey and some of his henchmen in a series of alleged encounters in Uttar Pradesh is reminiscent of a similar incident in which four people, accused of rape and murder of a veterinary doctor, had met a similar fate in December 2019. Opposition and activists have questioned if it is with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi’s blessings, that many officers of Uttar Pradesh police threw both constitutional propriety and caution to the wind and embarked on an encounter spree.
