Bengaluru: The Maharashtra BJP unit has promised to prevail upon the Narendra Modi-led Central government to award Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar, one of the foremost freedom fighters India has ever seen, in its Maharashtra poll manifesto. Maharashtra will go to polls this October 21.
The Prime Minister too, in his election rallies in the state, has accused the Congress of insulting not just Veer Savarkar, but also Dr Ambedkar, considered the father of Indian Constitution.
