Lucknow: Inmates of Unnao jail can be seen brandishing guns and feasting in prison premises. The video has gone viral with people questioning how the inmates were let loose while serving term.

A video of two inmates holding a country-made pistol inside the prison premises went viral on social media.

The highlight is the response by the Uttar Pradesh Home Department which came up with a bizarre clarification stating that the pistols were “made of clay”. It apparently looked real, all thanks to two inmates who apparently are “good painters”.

Terming the entire sequence of events as "serious", additional director general (prisons) Anand Kumar said, "In the investigation, it was found that the incident was done in collusion with some jail officials to put pressure on the jail administration."

He further added that head jail wardens Mata Prasad, Hemraj, Awadhesh Sahu and Saleem Khan have been found to be colluding with the inmates, and action is being initiated against them as per rules.
