Unnao: Town panchayat president of Ugu in Unnao, Anuj Kumar Dixit, published an advertisement in a newspaper, wishing people on the occasion of Independence Day along with the image of Unnao rape accused MLA Kuldeep Sengar. As long is Sengar our MLA, we will use his picture, no matter what, he said. He hailed Sengar as his “role model”.
A court in Delhi recently had framed fresh charges against Uttar Pradesh MLA Sengar and his accomplice Shashi Singh on charges of raping a minor in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh in 2017. The charges were modified from Sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act to Sections 5(C) and 6 of the Act. This new act deals with punishments for a public servant who sexually assaults a child, and the offences entail a minimum punishment of 10 years, as against the earlier seven years. Sengar also has been charged in the case of Unnao rape victim's father’s death in police custody.
