Telangana: BJP leaders suffer severe burns while lighting Chandrashekar Rao's effigy

The state BJP leaders had called for a protest of the rape of a nine-year-old in Warangal. While attempting to burn an effigy of Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao during the protest, two BJP leaders ended up suffering severe burns

Hyderabad: Two BJP leaders on Monday (June 24) suffered burns while attempting to set fire to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's effigy in Hanamkonda. The BJP leaders were protesting the rape of a nine-year-old. The BJP leaders staged a protest at Ambedkar statue and demanded that strict action be taken against the accused in the rape case.

While the BJP leaders were attempting to light the effigy, a man tried to pour flammable liquid on it which made the blaze spread in a flash. The flames caught on to the bodies of the two BJP leaders.

The two were rushed to a nearby private hospital. Warangal urban district leader Padmareddy suffered burns on his hands while another leader Srinivas is reportedly in critical condition.
