Tamil Nadu water crisis: AIADMK seeks divine intervention for rains; pujas across all temples

AIADMK in Tamil Nadu has turned to pujas and yagnas to pray for rain and solve the current situation of water crisis in the state. The ruling AIADMK government has decided to turn to the Gods by organising such pujas on June 22 in all the major temples across the state. While deputy Speaker Thambidurai and former MP Jayavardhan were seen in the puja organised in Kurungaleeshwar Temple in Koyambedu, minister SP Velumani was present in Porur's Patteeshwar Temple. Velumani also said that the government has set aside Rs 200 crore to solve the problem of water scarcity in Tamil Nadu, along with Rs 69 crore for Chennai. The minister also said that the government has decided to fetch water from Jolarpet on the outskirts of Chennai to other parts of the state.

 Meanwhile the opposition led by DMK has been staging protests urging the government to immediately act and solve the current water crisis in the state.
