Karur: A pipeline of the Cauvery Combined Water Supply Scheme (CWSS) burst in Tamil Nadu's Karur district, leading to the wastage of gallons of water.

Many litres of water leaked from the pipe that was connected along Manapparai-Kulithalai Road in Karur. This pipeline carries water from three infiltration wells in Karur, to Melur in Madurai, across the River Cauvery.

Panicked residents informed the Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage (TWAD) board of Melur who immediately rushed to the spot.

The leaked water has damaged farmlands in the area and also caused inconvenience to motorists on that stretch of the road. Local body officials have stated that it would take at least a day for the leak to be fixed.

The incident comes at a time when the state of Tamil Nadu is experiencing a heat wave and water scarcity at the same time.
