Tirunelveli: An elderly couple in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli chased away two burglars who tried to attack them with machetes and sickles. The couple used plastic chairs, bucket and slippers to drive them out of their house compound. The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera at their residence.
Looking at the video, police officials have concluded that the burglars are from the same locality. They had also covered their faces and snuck up to 70-year-old Shanmugavel who was sitting in the porch.
As soon as Shanmugavel’s wife saw her husband in the clutches of the burglar, she quickly flung footwear at the armed men. Police have registered an FIR against the burglars under Section 233 and section 394 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The video went viral on social media and even Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan hailed the duo’s bravery.
