Sri Lankan Navy arrests two people with 86.4 kilograms of Kerala cannabis

Thiruvananthapuram: The Sri Lankan Navy seized a stock of Kerala cannabis during a special naval operation conducted in the northern sea on Wednesday. A group of naval personnel attached to Fast Attack Craft of the Northern Naval Command have arrested two people with 86.4 kilograms of Kerala cannabis.

As per sources, the stock of cannabis was packed into two parcels and it is believed that the suspects have attempted to smuggle them into the country from India. 

As per government’s initiatives for the prevention of drug abuse, the Sri Lankan Navy has launched a wide range of tactical missions in the seas. It is also said that the Navy will continue to tighten its grip on this illegal activity with the use of latest technology in due course.
