Sri Lanka bomb blasts: Army conducts special security check at Jaffna University

Jaffna: Days after a series of bomb blasts which claimed more than 200 lives, a team of Army personnel on Friday, conducted special security checks at the University of Jaffna in Sri Lanka. The university was established in 1974 as the sixth campus of the University of Sri Lanka. The institution became an independent, autonomous university in 1979.

According to reports, the security checks were carried out at the University of Jaffna and nearby areas at 5 AM on Friday morning.

The reports further said that more than 300 army personnel had searched the hostel where final year students of Faculty of Medicine of Jaffna University stayed.

The academic and non-academic staff also underwent a thorough security check at the entrance of the university premises.
