Sri Lanka blasts: Anti-aircraft gun bullets found in Vavuniya forest

Vavuniya: The Irattaperiyakulam Police in Sri Lanka on Monday (May 6) recovered bullets that are capable of destroying aircraft, from Alagalla forest area in Vavuniya.

According to reports, about 85 bullets of anti-aircraft guns were found by Irattaperiyakulam police officers, who acted on a piece of information received from the residents of the area.

The police officials also searched the area further with the help of police dogs. However, no other explosives were recovered from the site.

The reports further stated that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) organisation had previously held the area in which the said ammunition was found.

The recovered anti-aircraft bullets are to be defused by the Police Special Task Force. Irattaperiyakulam Police are investigating.
