Siliguri Corridor – India’s preparedness to defend its chicken’s neck

The Siliguri Corridor is a narrow stretch of land of about 22 kilometres in West Bengal. The land that connects Northeast India to the rest the country is a vital piece of land that needs to be defended at all costs. The building of airstrips and roadways by China on its side of the border adds to the threat to the Siliguri Corridor. With a single railway line through the region, the mobility of military personnel and resources in case of a war comes into question. We look at the measures that India can take to effectively defend the nation from its side of the border.
