After former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah courted controversy by commenting on a man's tilak during an event, he has now gone on to clarify it after facing severe backlash.

"Tilak means it has to be small, the long tilak is worn by the BJP, that's what I was saying," said Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah had earlier said, while taking a dig at the BJP, that he is scared of people wearing tikas. He even told a contractor, who was wearing a tika, to work properly.

The BJP didn't take the controversial comment lightly and the party’s spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh started a trend on social media. He and several others posted selfies wearing a tikas.
