Dhannuskodi: Security has been intensified in Tamil Nadu, and vehicles are being checked at Dhannuskodi, Pamban Road Bridge and Railway Bridge in Rameshwaram following intelligence reports that six IS terrorists from Sri Lanka, including a Pakistan national, have seeped into Coimbatore from the neighbouring island nation.

The police have tightened security near places of worship, railway stations and bus terminus across the district.  Inter-state borders are secured with the armed police force. Police are using hand-held metal detectors to scan the baggage of the visitors before allowing them to enter places of worship.

Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a dog squad are involved in a joint operation at Pamban Bridge, Uppur thermal station and Rameswaram bus terminus. Meanwhile, more than 300 policemen were carrying out vehicle checks in high crowd public areas.
