Mumbai: Section 144 Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) continues to be imposed in Mumbai’s Ballard Estate, where the office of Enforcement Directorate (ED) is situated. NCP chief Sharad Pawar who was supposed to visit the agency’s office has cancelled it, even though Section 144 had been imposed anticipating him.

It is reported that the agency would conduct an investigation into the money laundering case in which he has been named. NCP workers had earlier staged protests after Sharad Pawar along with party leader Ajit Pawar and others were named in Enforcement Case Information Report in Rs 5,000 crore Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank (MSCB) scam case. Following which, Section 144 was imposed as a precautionary measure.

However, in the recent update, the NCP chief took to Twitter and said that the ED does not require his presence on September 27 and hence his visit will be postponed.
