SBI cashier sells 2.2kg gold pledged by farmer, arrested in Andhra Pradesh

Krishna: A cashier at State Bank of India, Kanchikacherla branch allegedly cheated a farmer of Rs 25 lakh. The farmer was trying to avail a gold loan. Cashier Godavarti Srinivasa Rao has been accused of selling the gold pledged by the farmer. The issue came to light when the farmer repaid the loan amount and requested the bank to return his gold.

The bank manager of the branch and the customer have filed a complaint in this regard with Kanchikacherla Police. Srinivasa Rao was taken into custody and the police have recovered 2.2 kg gold ornaments and Rs 25 lakh in cash from him.
