Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday (June 22) refused to accept CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's resignation to step down from the post following the rape and cheating accusations against his son Binoy Kodiyeri.

Sources say, though the issue could be termed personal, a resignation would help to uphold the dignity of a Communist leader, they feel.

Andheri Oshiwara Police have filed a case of sexual assault and rape against CPI(M) Kerala secretary Balkrishnan's eldest son Binoy Vinodini Balakrishnan. The incident came to light after a woman, hailing from Bihar, filed a complaint stating that with the fake promise of marriage, Binoy raped her.
