Rani Avantibai statue row: BJP MLA Raja Singh assaulted by police, admitted to hospital

Hyderabad: BJP MLA Raja Singh and his supporters were all set to install freedom fighter Rani Avantibai statue at Jumerat Bazar in Hyderabad. But the police stopped him from doing so as there was no permission attained from the authorities concerned to install the statue at the location. This led to a heated argument and police resorted to caning when the situation went out of control. Raja Singh is the lone BJP MLA in Telangana. He was injured when the police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. Singh has been admitted to the Osmania Hospital for treatment. He has demanded action against Shahinayatganj ACP Narender Reddy, sub inspectors Gurumurty, and Ravi Kumar Asif Nagar ACP Narsimha Reddy.
