Thiruvananthapuram: After the Supreme Court’s verdict on decriminalising homosexuality, this was the first gathering of LGBTIQ community members and netizens in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. During the function, Q-Rang, the first LGBTIQ theatre group launched by Queerythm, was inaugurated.
A group of LGBTIQ members, including those from Kerala, other states and abroad, took part in the Queerythm pride walk and queer cultural festival in town. This was the first pride event to completely observe the green protocol. Plastic and other non-biodegradable material were avoided during the celebrations.
A number of LGBTIQ couples also took part in this along with their parents and other kin, hinting at increased visibility and acceptance for the community. Queerythm also plans to launch a family support group for the community members soon.
