Pressure mines found buried near Sri Lanka restaurant; Army continues island-wide search operation

Kanagarayankulam: Three pressure mines, an RPG bullet and other ammunition were found buried near a restaurant at Kanagarayankulam, Vavuniya in Sri Lanka on April 29. Kanagarayankulam security forces said that the search was based on a tip-off received by police and Army intelligence officers. 

The security personnel found that the explosives and ammunition are several years old, and the investigation team is trying to find out why the owner of the restaurant was in possession of the material.

The restaurant owner has been taken into custody and the explosives are being handed over to Kanagarayankulam Police.

Sri Lanka Army through its seven formations encompassing the entire country is carrying out search operations to apprehend extremists and terrorists.  Sri Lanka saw eight serial blasts that killed hundreds of people and injured 500 people on Easter Sunday.
