Chennai: Tamil Nadu Deputy Speaker Jayaraman is confident that the Pollachi sexual assault case will not affect AIADMK’s vote bank. Jayaraman addressed the media outside the Chennai airport and stated that the accusations made against him and his family are baseless and false.

Jayaraman and his family have been accused of being involved in the Pollachi sexual assault case. However, Jayaraman denied all allegations and said, “The brother of the victim himself released an audio wherein he stated that I had helped them file the complaint in the first place.”

An audio message circulated on social media and mobile messaging platforms where a woman claiming to be the complainant in the case, said Jayaraman, whom her family approached through an acquaintance, had helped her lodge the police complaint.

Jayaraman further said that the accusations were made simply to politicise the issue and sought proof that his family was indeed involved.

When asked about how the incident will affect the party in the upcoming Assembly elections, Jayaraman confidently stated, “When people are beginning to realise that the allegations are false, why should I be worried? The people in Pollachi have seen me from before and know the values and principles of my family. We will receive more votes than ever before.”

Furthermore, Jayaraman said that the AIADMK would never indulge in such actions especially when they have been led by stalwarts such as MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa.
