Kozhikode: The Nipah virus took the lives of 18 people from Kozhikode in Kerala. Moosa's sons Muhammed Salih, Muhammed Sabith and sister-in-law Mariam were the first victims of the Nipah virus outbreak in the state.

It has been a year since the Nipah virus was reported and the victim's family has come forward alleging that they have not received any compensation from the government yet. Earlier, it was reported that the government would compensate the families of the victims.

When Moosa's family consulted government authorities for compensation, they reportedly said that it was not proved whether the death of Moosa's family members was because of the Nipah virus.
