Monsoon to hit Kerala in 48 hours; IMD issues orange alert in four districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts of Kerala on June 9 and 10. 

The India Meteorological Department on Thursday said the monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala on June 8, a week later than its usual date. According to reports, the normal onset date for monsoon over Kerala was June 1. 

The IMD has informed that depression would form in the central-east Arabian sea near Kerala and Karnataka coast. IMD has issued an alert to fishermen as there is a possible depression formation in the Arabian sea. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution.
