Sumalatha was elected as the MP of Mandya after she defeated JD(S) candidate and Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil. JD(S) leader Thammanna was seen speaking informally at an event scolding people for not electing the JD(S) candidate and voting for Sumalatha.
