Kerala: In a first, woman police officer appointed as anti-terrorist squad chief

Thiruvananthapuram: Chaitra Teresa John, superintendent of police has been appointed as chief of the anti-terrorist squad by the government. She is the first woman from Kerala to be appointed to the post.

Earlier this year she had grabbed headlines for raiding the district office of the CPI(M) in search of DYFI workers.

Prior to that, the woman cop put eight state government employees belonging to a Left union in jail. They were accused of vandalising a branch of the State Bank of India on January 9 while observing a nationwide strike.
