New Delhi: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday (August 8) said he spoke to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the grim flood situation in the state. He added that he would also talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for more assistance to his Wayanad constituency.

Meanwhile, Rahul postponed his plan to visit Wayanad as the officials advised him that his presence will disturb the relief operations in the state.

The death toll due to rain-related issues has reached 10 as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in many parts of Kerala. The consistent downpour has put normal life out of gear. Collectors of all 14 districts have announced a holiday for all educational institutions on Friday (August 9).
